Midwest Electronic Music: October 13th-14th @ Lewis University, Chicago

.:Electronicmusicmidwest.org:.

Quote:
EMM is the result of a consortium formed in 2002 between Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC), Lewis University, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Officially formed in 2002, this festival was founded by Mike McFerron, Connie Mayfield, and Paul Rudy in 2000 when it was presented at KCKCC under the name "Kansas City Electronic Music Festival." In 2001, the festival continued at Lewis University under the title, "Electronic Music at Lewis - 2001."

The festival is currently calling for submissions of "scores". Unfortunatly you only have until May 1st. Yikes.

Performances will be done in 8.1 surround sound and the organizers encourage students to apply for not only performances, but also any thesis', papers, or lectures they might be intrested in providing.

COSM: Two Livesets

Links to two livesets by LivePA artist COSM. Both are sort of a trancey breaks ravey sorta thing with a lot of commercial sampling. Not my bag, but hey who am I to say. I am just assuming by the arrangement and sound that these are probably Ableton Livesets.

.:Micromusic: Liveset Feb 10th, 2006 MP3:.

Here is a nice little minimalist glitch sort of techno set I found online by Micromusic. Unfortunately the artist does not have very much information up on his/her website regarding the details of this set, but I was able to find out that it was done using two Yamaha RS7000's with a DJ mixer and a compressor. You can find his/her website at .:golittlemonkey.com:.

MEXICAN r4WB1t5 macro.Fest: 04/06/06 -04/09/06

.:r4WB1t5.org Homepage:.

Throughout Chicago this weekend artists and musicians from Mexico city are coming to showcase their art across the entire metropolitan area. This looks to be a great event showcasing not only some great music but also some great art. You can find specific deals of venues, times and artists on the website.

Quote:
Chicago├é’s fourth instance of the decentralized and distributed (A) r4wb1t5 macro.Fest consists of a string of New Media art events occurring each day from April 5th through April 9th. Various alternative art spaces in Chicago will function as hosts for these individually curated and connected r4wb1t5 micro.Fests. Each micro.Fest is organized by individual curators based in Mexico City and facilitated in Chicago by Amanda Gutierrez, jon.satrom and jonCates. This r4wb1t5 macro.Fest is a macro-expansion/explosion of previous smaller r4wb1t5 micro.Fest activities.

This r4wb1t5 macro.Fest initiates a cultural exchange wherein Chicago-based curators, organizers and artists will soon travel to Mexico City to develop a sister r4wb1t5 festival. Artists, curators, organizers, facilitators and participants gather for these free and open events comprised of live audio and video, media art screenings, installations, and network based art in the discursive context of r4WB1t5. Join the conversational hyperthreads of these dynamic exchanges between Chicago and Mexico City!
