Tom COSM Liveset from New Years Eve 2007

.:Tom COSM Liveset from New Years Eve 2007:.

We have another liveset from a regular here on the LivePA blog. COSM. This set is recorded from his New Year's Eve gig down in New Zealand at the Cannan Downs Festival.

COSM Quote:

The event was called Cannan Downs Festival ( www.canaandowns.com ), a party held in a very famous NZ party spot. The site was the first outdoor festival I went to when I was younger (getting blown away/inspired by the likes of Pitch Black), and I always told myself one day I would play the countdown set.. so it was a real special treat for me.

The set is big outdoor proggy trance/house, moving into more minimally technoey electro stuff.. most of it is quite new.

As usually be sure to check out all of COSM's stuff over at his website. COSM.co.nz

.:808 State Liveset from Benicassim Festival, Spain, 08-08-2003:.

This week's liveset is a full gig from the guys of 808 State. 808 State has been doing live electronic music since the late eighties and it is great to hear their blend of that oldschool sound along with all of the other flavors that the years have added on.

808 State has tons of more band information as well as a bunch of music over at their website 808State.com.  Be sure to head on over there and check out one of the longest running acts in electronic music still performing.

Tomphonic Live at SyncTank

.:Tomphonic Live at SyncTank:.

Well it has been a little while since we have had a liveset to feature on the blog. This week's liveset comes from Tom Phone who has a very nice performance from SyncTank.

Quote:

I have been waiting since october to get this one. I did bring my minidisc to it, but the guy running the show said he'd record it. Cool dude for sure, he ended up mastering it for me and giving me the original and mastered version back, I was getting very anxious. Anyway, its a really chill set, I've got some of my opinions about length of songs, but over all I'm really excited about the set. I don't know what type of pary this would work at tho, so cool that it was at a bar of interested people. Sync Tank is the name of the night, if any of you are in NYC, you should check it out, its really fun, crowded, and good people to talk to all around.

Be sure to check out more of his music over at Tomphonic.com

Putsch Live at DBreach December 8th 2007

.:Putsch Live at DBreach December 8th 2007:.

This week's liveset comes from an email I recieved from the artist Nick Ronin aka. Putsch. Not a lot of information on this set, but Putsch is an audio/visual duo focusing on breakbeats and dub.

Quote:

Putsch is a live multimedia electronic act combining the newest possibilities in live video mixing, scratching and fx with a highly visual, attention grabbing musical performance, all controlled by an eclectic variety of instruments and controllers on stage. With a musical style ranging from boneshaking breaks to shuddering dubstep, Putsch is a visual dance act like no other, a hypnotic synergy that will probably be banned as a threat to public apathy. It features audio producer Ronin, visual artist Influssi and the Mission Creep DJs as well as irregular guest performers.

Ronin and Putsch have a whole plethora of website that they are running so lets be sure to checkout them all out.

.:Alert-Live at Parallel 17:.

This week's liveset is another linked over from Denvertronic.com (Is Denver that big of a LivePA hotspot?) and it is a very nice change up from some of the past music we have seen on the site. This week's set is a nice down tempo breaks set from Alert. Alert is also the owner of Dope Recordings.

Be sure to check it out if you are looking for more music in this vein. Also, a big ups to Denvertronic.com for dishing up yet another great liveset.

Bit Shifter Live at Openair 2003

.:Bit Shifter Live at Openair 2003:.

Since it seems that the fantastically planned Blip Festival is just wrapping up, I think it might be appropriate that we feature as many of the Blip Festival artists on the next few LivePA Podcasts as possible.

So with that, lets go ahead and get this week's liveset started by featuring a liveset from one of the more well known 8bit artists out on the net, Bit Shifter.

Quote:

Bit Shifter explores high-energy, low-bit music composed and performed on a Nintendo Game Boy. The result is an unapologetically fun foray into an evocative and distinctive soundset traditionally reserved for video game sound effects and background music, all done on a console generally misperceived as being technically limited. Made possible by Oliver Wittchow and Johan Kotlinski's respective home-brew Game Boy musicmaking programs Nanoloop and Little Sound DJ, Bit Shifter's music adopts and subverts the playfulness inherent in the familiar Game Boy soundset, repurposing it into the service of novel idioms. Based in New York City, Bit Shifter has performed over one hundred shows worldwide, having recently circumnavigated the planet in a 20-date world tour with fellow chiptune compatriot Nullsleep
